I Went To A Wedding And A Race Broke Out
#96 3R Racing Driver Skip Sauls To Wed At Infineon
DETROIT - 3R Racing's Skip Sauls will literally race his way to the altar following this weekend's SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT event at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Sauls, driver of the #96 3R Viper in the GT class, will marry his fiance, Beth Millard, on Monday June 26th, at the Inn Marin of Sonoma.
Sauls is a native of Ocean Springs, Mississippi and Beth originates from Lincoln, Nebraska. Both now reside in Longmont, Colorado.
"We chose the date and location because Sonoma seemed like a nice place to get married," commented Sauls. "Most of the guests will be attending the race which should be a lot of fun. Especially for Todd, Beth's ten year-old son!"
Beth is no stranger to Skip's support crew.
"She's a big supporter of my racing," added Skip. "In St. Petersburg she did the honors as my flag girl and (as if she didn't have enough to do already), she'll be flag girl again at Infineon. When she's not watching tape-delayed races with me, she follows the live timing and scoring online. Really, I couldn't ask for a bigger fan."
Continuing with the race based theme, Motorsports Ministries minister, Dan Lacey, will preside over the couple's vows at the wedding ceremony. Lacey also serves as the trackside announcer along with Sportscar Revolution's, Tom Hnatiw for the SPEED World Challenge races.
Skip began racing with the Porsche Club of America in 2003 with a Porsche 993, and continued in 2004 and 2005 with a SPEED World Challenge Porsche GT3 Cup. He competed as a rookie with the SPEED World Challenge GT series in 2005 taking a 14th place overall at the Grand Prix of Denver and 15th overall at Laguna Seca. 2006 is his first full season with SCCA Pro Racing.
The fifth round of the 2006 SCCA SPEED GT Championship is scheduled for June 23-25, at Infineon Raceway and will air on SPEED Saturday, July 8, at 4 p.m EST.
