THE AUBERLEN-BMW EXPRESS CONTINUES TO ROLL
Bill Auberlen, driving the No. 93 Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW 325i, continues dominate the Speed World Challenge Touring Car series as he has three wins this season, including five podium finishes in six races. Auberlen's dominance in the BMW has helped him to a 60-point lead, with 181 points, in the Speed Touring Car Championship point race over second place Pierre Kleinubing. Kleinubing's misfortunes continued for the second-consecutive race as crash damage forced him out on lap six at Mid-Ohio two weeks ago and a flat tire led to a disappointing 20th-place finish at Infineon Raceway nearly a month ago. Ken Dobson, Roger Foo, and Will Turner complete the top five in points.
KLEINUBING AND CUNNINGHAM LOOK TO IMPROVE ON LAST YEAR'S ROAD AMERICA EFFORT
Former RealTime Racing teammates Pierre Kleinubing and Peter Cunningham, who finished second and third, respectively, last year at Road America, look to improve on their finishes from a year ago. However, if they do improve this year, they will do so driving for separate teams both owned by Cunningham. Following his championship-winning run in 2002, West Bend resident Cunningham formed TeamRTR with the assistance of Nissan to campaign its new Sentra SE-R Spec V. Joined by Eric Curran in the team's No. 2 entry, Cunningham now competes directly with his other property, RealTime Racing, which remains an Acura team, with three-time champion Kleinubing leading the charge in a brand new Acura RSX-S. While both Cunningham and Kleinubing have new mounts in 2003, look for them to again be very strong at their respective teams' home track.
