ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 22, 2003) -- Fresh off of his first-career SCCA Pro Racing Speed World Challenge Touring Car Championship win at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course two weeks ago, Bob Endicott, of San Pedro, Calif., continued to be the story at Road America, pacing practice for Saturday's Round Seven race. Shauna Marinus, of Folsom, Calif., and point leader Bill Auberlen, of Hermosa Beach, Calif., completed the top three.

Driving the No. 64 King Motorsports/Mugen Acura RSX Type S, Endicott turned a blistering lap of 2:33.178 (95.136 mph) in the first of two practice sessions, more than 2.5-seconds below the current track record.

Marinus, driving the No. 4 TriPoint Motorsports/Mazdaspeed Mazda Protege ES was second-fastest with a time of 2:33.575 (94.890 mph). Auberlen's lap of 2:33.690 (94.819 mph) in his Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW 325i was good enough for third.

In all, 17 drivers were under the existing track record of 2:35.855 (93.502 mph) set in 2002 qualifying by Pierre Kleinubing.

Jeff Altenburg, of Ellicott City, Md., paced the afternoon session and was quick enough for fourth on the day. Peter Cunningham, of W. Bend, Wis., completed the top five.

Qualifying for Saturday's Round Seven event is scheduled for 8:55 a.m. (CDT). The 16-lap, 64.77-mile race will make its standing start at 4:35 p.m.
