Fitzgerald, driver of the No. 22 3R Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, put sticker tires on his car late in the practice session helping him turn the fastest lap of the session at 2:18.895 (104.919 mph).

"I don't know how much quicker we can go on those sticker tires," Fitzgerald said describing his quick time around the 4.048 mile 14-turn track. "But, we are pretty happy with our run."

The Champion Racing Audi RS 6s, who hope to redeem themselves after a disappointing showing at Infineon Raceway last weekend, were led in the first session by Randy Pobst, of Gainesville, Ga. Pobst led most of practice with the fastest lap of 2:19.638 (104.361 mph) before Fitzgerald took over the top spot.
