Stretch Tops SPEED Touring Car Practice At Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (July 23, 2004) -- Bob Stretch, of Dallas, Texas, paced SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car practice Friday at a hot and sunny Portland International Raceway in preparation for Saturday's Round Six race. Dino Crescentini, of Malibu, Calif., and Pierre Kleinubing, of Coconut Creek, Fla., completed the top three.

Stretch drove the No. 98 Wheels America BMW 325Ci to a fastest lap of 1:24.560 (82.762 mph) around the 1.944-mile circuit in the morning session. Crescentini was able to record the second-fastest time of that session, with a 1:24.560 (82.762 mph) in his No. 3 Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs/Centric Parts BMW 325i.

Driving the No. 42 A-SPEC/RealTime Racing Acura TSX, Kleinubing was third quick in the morning session, with a 1:24.909 (82.422 mph). Kleinubing led the afternoon session, which was slowed by 102 degree heat, with a fast time of 1:26.299 (81.095 mph).

Fourth quick on the day was the most recent SPEED Touring Car race winner, Nic Jonsson in his BMW 325Ci, followed by teammate James Sofronas in a similar car.

Qualifying for Saturday afternoon's Round Six race is set for 9:20 a.m. (PDT), with the race makes its standing start at 4:15 p.m. (PDT). Live Timing & Scoring Presented by Cadillac for both sessions is available at www.world-challenge.com.
