ATLANTA, Ga. (October 7, 2001)- The Sports Car Club of America Court of Appeals has reinstated Steve Pfeffer's second-place Speedvision Touring Car finish at the July 21 X-Factor Grand Prix of Sonoma at Sears Point Raceway. Pfeffer, who drove the No. 26 John Hancock/JJ's Snacks BMW 328is to second, a scant 0.059-second behind race winner Neal Sapp, in the closest finish in World Challenge history, was later disqualified following post-race technical inspection for what was believed to be a non-compliant cam profile. The Court of Appeals determined that insufficient documentation regarding BMW 328 cam part numbers was available from SCCA Pro Racing, and the finishing position and all points and purse earned on the weekend were reinstated.
