Victoria Day Victory!

Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada (May 23, 2010) - It was near domination for Randy and his #6 K-PAX Racing Volvo S60 at the Victoria Day Speedfest doubleheader at Mosport International Raceway, for rounds four and five of the 2010 SCCA World Challenge GT championship. Randy's Volvo was hot from the beginning, capturing the pole for the first race and leading flag-to-flag to victory in his 100th career start!. His dominance continued through qualifying for the second race on Sunday morning, where they qualified more than a second faster than the rest of the field. Randy got a great start and led many laps before being overtaken by the Corvette of Ron Fellows in traffic. Ron and Randy blew away the rest of the competition with Randy finishing in second.

"This has been a great weekend for the #6 K-PAX Volvo! The Volvo felt great from the first practice session on. The car was stable in the high-speed corners of Mosport which is really important. I am also relieved and pleased to say that our start package worked great. I had an excellent start in both races and the Volvo ran hard off the line like it is supposed to. I'm hoping this means all our start troubles are behind us. In the first qualifying session, I just squeaked out the pole over Andy. Kuno Wittmer's Viper gave us lots of pressure during the race but our Volvo was so fast, I was able to hold him off. Its so nice to be winning again!"

"The high point of today for me was my pole qualifying lap which was one of the best laps of my career. It was the perfect storm of a lap. The Volvo was prepared perfectly. Our Toyo tires were at the perfect point between new and used. The weather was even perfect. I was so proud to out-qualify these guys by that much."

"Our all-wheel drive Volvo start gave us a big lead in the first part of the race, but I noticed Fellows was coming. It was sunny and the track temperatures were higher so our tires got hotter, which slowed us slightly. The much lighter Corvette caught me and passed me as we split a slower car. The Touring Cars have been slowed down and the speed difference is great. Passing cars has become a very important part of the race. I also caught the last place Porsche and put a nice, clean pass on him and he turned right into me! I guess I must have surprised him. The car was fine though. I had a lot of fun racing Ron and we destroyed the rest of the competition."

"I would like to give a special mention to the entire K-PAX crew for their late nights and early mornings. This was a busy, busy weekend for them with two races and many sessions. The car was very well prepared. Condolences to Andy Pilgrim who was snake bit with mechanical issues. He had a tough weekend. I would also like to thank my personal sponsors WeatherTech, ChaseCam, saferacer.com, Team Janica Racing and Prairie Hills Motorsport Club for their continued support. I am just elated to be leading both the Drivers' Championship and the Manufacturers' Championship for Volvo which is goal one!"

Randy is currently first in Championship points with a healthy 47-point lead and Volvo has a 7-point lead over Porsche. The Grand Prix of Mosport will be broadcast July 31 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM (ET) on Versus. Randy's next SPEED World Challenge GT race will be July 3 at Watkins Glen International. The next race for Randy in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge will be next week at Lime Rock Park on May 28.
