BimmerWorld Confident Heading North Of The Border
The BimmerWorld team is regrouped and ready as the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Series rolls into Bowmanville, Ontario (Canada) for the Labor Day Weekend at Mosport International Raceway. Sharing the billing with the American Le Mans Series, the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car and GT divisions will contest round eight of their ten round Championship.
Shaking off a string of tough races and a season-long quest developing the team's new BMW 325i E90 race cars, the BimmerWorld crew and drivers remain confident that their efforts are paying off.
"We've been racing long enough to know when to separate our progress from racing luck," said BimmerWorld owner and driver of the #36 BimmerWorld BMW 325i, James Clay. "The new cars have presented a challenge, but that's always to be expected. I can honestly say, I'm pleased and encouraged by the progress we're making."
"We had good results at Mosport last year," added Clay. "We had three cars finish in the top-10. I had an excellent run with Peter Cunningham mid -race and finished fourth. I'd like to think we're poised to repeat those results and continue to build momentum as we head to Road Atlanta and Laguna Seca."
Mosport was good to Seth Thomas last year as well. Seth won the B&M Holeshot Award for advancing six positions in his No. 38 BimmerWorld BMW 325i from his 13th-starting position.
"When I look at my results from this race last year," said Seth, "it confirms my season goal of trying to qualify better. Last year I started 13th and finished 6th. If I can start further up the grid, I'll have a much better race and finishing result."
"I'm really happy with the new car," continued Seth. "The BimmerWorld guys have been relentless in sorting the car out and it just keeps getting faster. I know we've got one of the fastest cars out there and we just need a few breaks to go our way. I'm looking forward to a good week."
Paul Goldman will rejoin the team driving the #39 BimmerWorld BMW 325i.
"This will be a great experience running at Mosport," Paul said. "It's a added bonus to be able to share the experience of James and the rest of the BimmerWorld team. It certainly accelerates the learning curve coming to a new track."
