MANSFIELD, OH (June 26, 2002) : Lime Rock Park is not only a favorite track for BMW Driver Will Turner, but it is also his home track a place for positive results. Memorial Day Weekend's Speed World Challenge event unfortunately wasn't very positive for Turner nor his popular Turner Motorsport / H&R Springs / BMW racing squad. After restoring all three cars back to their usual first-rate condition they arrive in Ohio for Round Four of North America's fastest growing Motorsport Series.
"We got beat up a little," commented Turner from his Boston-area race shop on the team's experience at Lime Rock Park. "There was a lot of aggressive driving out there and, unfortunately, it seems that all three of our cars came out on the bad end of that aggression. I am confident that we will fare much better at Mid Ohio this weekend."
Turner (#92 Turner Motorsport / H&R Springs E46 BMW 325i) is not a regular at the well-known Midwestern road course although he did score a top-ten finish during the last Touring Car race there in 1999. However, he feels very confident due to the flawless performance of his racecar in the last two events Lime Rock Park and Mosport International Raceway in Canada where he broke track records in practice and qualifying.
Turner Motorsport pilot Bobby Sak (#93 Turner Motorsport / H&R Springs E46 BMW 325i), a native of nearby Michigan, has the most driving experience at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course having driven in The SCCA Spec-Ford Racer Series and the annual SCCA/Valvoline Run-Offs, among other events. This weekend, Sak will also be driving for his father's Revolution Motorsports team in the Trans-Am Series.
Frank Selldorff (#94 Turner Motorsport / H&R Springs / FAN-Vision E46 BMW 325i) is visiting Mid-Ohio for the first time this weekend. Selldorff, the newest of the Turner drivers to the SCCA Pro-Racing Series, has shown great promise in all three of the events held thus far in 2002. He has learned a much from being with the Turner organization and shows great promise for this weekend.
All three Turner cars made visits to the body shop following Lime Rock; however, they are all now back to their brilliant blue and yellow paint scheme. Extensive work went into the repair of the cars as well as the usual preparation to run at the front in this series. Turner Motorsport is currently the only World Challenge team fielding a full lineup of multiple E46 BMWs. The Mid-Ohio race can been seen on The Speed Channel July 13 at 9:00 PM (Eastern). On the weekend immediately following the Mid-Ohio round the series moves to the Road America sportscar course in Elkhart Lake, WI.
