LEXINGTON, Ohio -- Michael Galati turned the fastest time of the day in his Champion Audi S4 to claim the Speed World Challenge GT pole at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. "The difference today was that you had to push hard the first lap while your tires were still cold, so I just put my head down and went for it."

Johannes van Overbeek will start second, followed by veteran sports car ace Randy Pobst. And Galati knows that Pobst is always a contender. "I go way back with Randy. We have had some great racing with each other. I remember running side-by-side with him at Atlanta in 1993. We ran through the last turn together and never touched. I really enjoy racing against Randy. Randy knows the track [just] as well as I do, so the key will be not to make any mistakes but to push hard from the start."

Jeff McMillin and Peter Cunningham rounded out the top-five.
