TMS drivers battle through storm for top ten finishes
LIME ROCK, CT - 05/27/2003 - Will Turner started from the pole position and Bill Auberlen from fifth in yesterday's Speed Touring Car Championship event at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut. Heavy rain was in the forecast all day and caused its share of trouble. Will Turner finished in ninth place, Auberlen improved to fourth. They are now in third and second, respectively, in the Championship standings. BMW is still leading the Manufacturer's Championship.
Will Turner recovered from an early penalty to finish in the top ten. According to officials he jumped the start by a few milliseconds. A stop-and-go penalty was issued within the first few laps. Will was forced to pit for the penalty and give up second place in the race. He dropped back to tenth place. His first place starting position and top ten finish moved him up in the Championship to third.
Bill Auberlen, who started from the third row in the #93 Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs/BMW of Watertown BMW 325i, was up in the front of the pack at the first corner only to be bumped from behind and spun off the track. The spin and bump caused very little damage but he had to wait for the entire field of cars to go by before he could get cleanly on the track. He resumed in last place. Despite that, he passed 47 cars to actually improve by one spot on his starting position. And he set the fastest lap of the race. He sits in second place in the Touring Car Championship.
Turner Motorsport took home the honor of the fastest team at Lime Rock this past weekend. Auberlen was fastest through Friday's practice sessions. Will Turner posted the fastest qualifying time. Auberlen also had fastest race lap which made it a clean sweep for the Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs/BMW of Watertown team.
Turner Motorsport welcomed BMW of Watertown (formerly County Line BMW) to the team's paddock this past weekend. The dealership is located in Watertown, CT and is the #1 dealer in Connecticut for customer satisfaction, parts, service, and sales. The reputation that BMW of Watertown has with their customers mirrors Turner's own - customer care, quality, and trust combined with an appreciation for the BMW marque.
