Audi Racers to Lime Rock.
Auburn Hills, Mich. - Michael Galati, driving the number one Champion Audi/Audi S4 Competition, and Derek Bell, driving the number eight Legends of Motorsport Audi S4 Competition, are getting ready for the second of a back-to-back race weekend at Lime Rock Park this coming Memorial Day weekend. The Lime Rock race will be round three of the SCCA Pro Racing Speed GT Series.
The relatively short 1.53-mile course consists of seven turns, six of them right and one left. The Audi S4 Competition racers will have to rely on excellent traction and a good setup to run at the front for next Monday's race.
As a result of a difficult race at Mosport last weekend, Galati finds himself tied for first place in points with 58. Teammate Derek Bell has jumped one position in the points from seventh to sixth with 38. Acura leads Audi in the manufacturers' points by three.
"We should be competitive like last year when I was able to win. We need to get a good start and keep the momentum up and hope we don't get too many restarts. We would like some weight to come off because the handy caps are affecting our setups. We are having to run the car on the edge every lap and that eats up the tires in a hurry," said Galati.
"We might have a winning car there for some reason. The Champion guys have found ways to do well at tracks we shouldn't have. I really don't know what is going to happen. The track rewards good braking and a lightweight car and our S4 really doesn't fit that spec. We are carrying a few extra pounds so we will have to keep the momentum going and get the car to rotate into the corner a little better," said Derek Bell.
