Scott Poirier Completes World Challenge Season With a Strong Finish

Autohaus Motorsport's lead driver, Scott Poirier piloted his # 02 Mercedes-Benz C230 Coupe to a 14th finishing position at this weekend's Monterey Sports Car Championships at the famed Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The weather was exceptionally wonderful for the early stages of the weekend until race day on Sunday.

The team had it's work cut out for them coming in to the weekend with a new damper program and no baseline for this particular circuit. As things were starting to come together, a misfire decided to plague the young Floridian's machine for the final practice before qualifying.

"It was unfortunate to have to deal with engine problems in the midst of trying to dial in the chassis for qualifying, but I feel we made a few decent educated changes based on data for qualifying", stated Poirier.

The following day, Scott was able to click off a time to land him 22nd on the grid. The misfire was cured, but traffic hindered Poirier and his efforts for qualifying. The forecast called for rain on Sunday, and they were right. The team arrived to the saturated circuit and immediately came up with a plan for the 10:25 race time.

Though the circuit was fairly damp the rain continued in an on/off fashion making the decision to run wet tires a difficult one. The team decided to stay on dry tires , but make a few set up changes to accommodate the damp conditions.

The changes appeared to be quite helpful as Scott made his way through the field up to 14th position where he eventually ended the contest.

Poirier's thoughts, "I feel we have come a long way this year with the new C230 Coupe. I am proud of the team they worked hard and did a great job all year. The cars are still in early development stages and have a bit more to come. I must thank Mr. Kirland and Theresa of Autohaus Motorsport for the opportunity this year to be a part of their organization. Thanks to all of our partners: TEIN Suspensions, Alcon and BMRS Hoses."
