Montreal, Quebec.-- Kuno Wittmer will be considered a rookie again when he takes the Autohaus Mercedes C230 to the track in Sebring next week for the first round of the 2006 Speed World Challenge Touring Car Championship. The 23-year old from Montreal, Quebec has raced in many series in the last eight years but this will be his first start in this highly competitive series. Wittmer and Autohaus Motorsports Executive Director Peter Lockhart have agreed he will be at the helm of the Mercedes C230 Touring car at least for the first two events of the season.

"I was very impressed with Kuno when he tested at Moroso in February", said Lockhart. "He was fast within a few laps and never put a wheel wrong all day. Kuno immediately adapted to a new car and track with the maturity and speed of a top professional race car driver. I was also impressed with Kuno's racing background in open wheel and sedan touring. Our Autohaus MB will be in good hands, starting in Sebring next week."

"I'm very happy to join Autohaus, added Wittmer. We got to know Peter and I will try to be up to the challenge with the Mercedes. My goal is to get some Top Ten finishes. The car is fun to drive, I think we can find more speed in it and I long to work with Autohaus Technical Director David Ford. It will also be very interesting to work on the same team as veteran Tommy Archer, truly one of the best drivers in sedan racing in America."
