Henzler grabs pole, Aschenbach 4th in Speed GT
August 13, 2005-Denver, CO -- Wolf Henzler again showed his qualifying expertise by claiming his fourth pole of the season in the Denver round of the Speed World Challenge GT series. Driving the Applied Materials/Farnbacher Loles Porsche GT3 Cup, Henzler turned a fast lap of 1:15.121 on the temporary street circuit. Henzler had also been fastest in the two practice sessions and was able to negotiate the tight course with his trademark consistency. Taking second spot was Robin Liddell also in a Porsche. The challenging course was very much to Wolf's liking. "I really like racing on street courses. This circuit and St. Petersburg are both very fast and enjoyable to drive. The car is working very well here and the team did a very good job in the set-up."
Henzler's young Farnbacher Loles teammate, newcomer Lawson Aschenbach, showed impressive skill in his Speed GT debut. While Lawson has spent most of his racing career in open wheel cars, he has quickly adapted to the Porsche GT3 Cup. Lawson's best lap of 1:15.619 was only .044 behind third place qualifier and road-racing veteran Max Papis in one of the factory Cadillacs. Lawson was very pleased with his performance and had nothing but praise for the Farnbacher Loles crew. "Being on the Farnbacher Loles team and having Wolf as my teammate has made it much easier for me to adapt to the World Challenge car. I really appreciate everything they have done to help me get in the car this weekend. Having raced here last year in an open wheel car, has allowed me to put my main focus on the car and not the track. I am very happy qualifying fourth in my first weekend. The car was great and now it is up to me to drive a good race." Lawson lives in Gaithersburg, MD and is entering his senior year at Vanderbilt University.
