SCCA Court of Appeals to hear Champion Racing Speed GT appeal

TOPEKA, Kan. (June 9, 2003) -- SCCA Pro Racing announced today that the SCCA Court of Appeals will hear Champion Racing's appeal to the decision regarding its protest of Round Four of the Speed World Challenge GT Championship, held at Lime Rock Park, May 26.

The appeal is in response to SCCA Pro Racing's ruling on Champion Racing's post-race protest regarding the rear tires size on the winning car. SCCA Pro Racing's response to the protest was that it was well founded, but due to ambiguity in the rule book, the protest was not heard, thus making the provisional results stand as final.

While under appeal, as per the SCCA Pro Racing Regulations (PRR), the results are again deemed "provisional."

The SCCA Court of Appeals intends to meet in the next week, travel schedules permitting.
