Osborn Finishes 20th in First World Challenge GT Start
Cleveland -- June 26, 2005 Starting 22nd in his first ever World Challenge GT race, Jim Osborn drove the #7 Remote Area Medical GTO to a 20th place finish in Sunday's SPEED World Challenge race at the Grand Prix of Cleveland at Burke Lakefront Airport, June 23-36.
"That was just awesome," laughed Osborn after the race. "The car is just amazing. We had a problem with first gear when we went through the turn one mess at the start, but once I got it freed up, we were off and running."
"Later on, I started to get pretty comfortable," Osborn continued. "When we got into traffic on the restart, I felt very confident moving the car around. I found myself in the mix with Tom Oates and Mike Davis and had no problem getting the car to go where I needed to be. And, the power is definitely there."
"We said our goal was go out and get some laps under our belt," Osborn said. "We did that-- we did that well. The Chili Pepper racing guys did a great job with prepping for the race and Autosport Development's guys made it happen. Best of all, I brought it back whole! Let's get to Limerock!"
Osborn's #24 Chili Pepper Racing BMW qualified 13th for Saturday's Touring Car race and finished 25th. Osborn retired late in the race with mechanical difficulties.
The Cleveland Grand Prix schedule called for the SPEED Touring Car race to run on Saturday at 5:45pm and the GT race to run Sunday at 4pm. The Touring Car race aired Sunday at 4pm and the GT race ran one-hour tape delay at 5pm, on SPEED.
