Series organizers to hear Champion Racing's SCCA Speed World Challenge GT appeal

Champion Racing has been informed that SCCA Pro Racing, organizers of the Speed GT World Challenge, will hear its latest appeal this week.

The appeal is in response to the SCCA's ruling on Champion Racing's post-race protest concerning round 4 of the series at Lime Rock (26 May). The Florida-team protested race winner Bill Auberlen regarding the size of his BMW's rear tires size.

SCCA Pro Racing's response to Champion's initial protest was that it was "well founded, but due to ambiguity in the rule book, the protest was not heard, thus making the provisional results stand as final".

Currently under further appeal, as per the SCCA Pro Racing Regulations, the results once again deemed "provisional."

Mike Peters, Champion Racing's Director of Race Operations commenting from Le Mans where Team ADT Champion Racing are contesting the 24 Hours sportscar endurance race next weekend (14-15 June), commented: "I'm satisfied that the SCCA has elected to hear our latest appeal."

The Audi Sport North America-supported Audi RS 6 "Competition" of Randy Pobst finished second to Auberlen in the Lime Rock race staged in torrential wet conditions.
