October 7, 2009

SCCA Speed World Championship GT Series driver Brandon Davis is leading the point standings with only one race left in the season. Davis only needs to finish sixth or better in this weekend's race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to win the Speed World Challenge GT Championship.

BRANDON DAVIS - No. 10 ACS Ford Mustang GT:

HOW DO YOU FEEL GOING INTO THIS WEEKEND? "Pretty good, it's definitely positive to go in with the points lead. I don't know how the track will suit our car versus some of the lighter cars of the series, so that's kind of a question mark. Obviously, we're in the leading position going in; hopefully, we can get the finish we need to end the year out with the championship."

WHAT CHANGES DO YOU SEE IN YOUR DRIVING COMPARED TO LAST YEAR? "I don't know if there was much of a difference in the driving aspect of it. This year we had some breaks go our way, whereas last year we had some bad luck. Last year we had the average finishing position of just below second, when we were actually running great, but we were still having some developmental issues. We had three DNF's last year and that really took us out of the championship. This year we've only had one real issue during the season, and we were able to still finish on the lead lap and finish eighth. We haven't had the bad breaks that we had last year."

YOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO RACE WITH YOUR FATHER FOR A COUPLE OF RACES THIS SEASON. HOW WAS THAT? "It's kind of a dream come true. It's usual for fathers and sons to sometimes share similar hobbies, but not always usual when you get to the point where you actually compete on the same playing field. He started racing when I was four years old, and I remember going to the track and watching him. It's been funny with Boris Said running with us the last couple of races here; I've known Boris since I was 12 years old. It's kind of an interesting dynamic having him, my father and myself at the track because I'm definitely a junior to those guys."
