3R Racing and Coors announce three-race sponsorship agreement
TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 4, 2003) -- 3R Racing, of Englewood, Colo. and Coors Brewing Company, of Golden, Colo., have announced that they have reached a three-race sponsorship agreement for the remainder of the 2003 SCCA Speed World Challenge GT Championship season.
3R Racing fields three Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars driven by Mike Fitzgerald, of Phoenix, Ariz., the 2003 race winner at Road Atlanta and Road America, Tim Wiens, of Westminster, Colo. and Victor Contreras, of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a brand new Corvette Z06 driven by Phil McClure, of Floris, Iowa, race winner at Sebring and Mosport earlier this season.
"It is really a team sponsorship," said Michael Arthur, Director of New Business Development for 3R Racing. "The three Porsches will have Coors Light brand and the Corvette will have the Coors Original brand on it.
"What we are trying to do with this is to make the statement that, 'we are open for business and we can provide tangible-measurable benefits' and this is an opportunity for us to show what we can do and for Coors and other prospective partners we are currently courting to experience what we can do for them."
The sponsorship is the result of a mutual relationship between Wiens, owner of 3R Racing, Arthur and Coors Brewing Company.
"We are targeting some of the other labels in the family of brands that Coors has for a full-team sponsorship for next year or in the future," Arthur said. "One of the things that we mutually agreed to do was to get a three-race sponsorship together to really test the television exposure on Speed, the graphics, and the cars. It this gives us the most tangible way to leverage that into something for the future."
