SPEEDVISION WORLD CHALLENGE ADDS SEVERAL VENUES TO 1999 SCHEDULE
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Speedvision World Challenge 1999 schedule has been set with the addition of the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Road Atlanta, Vancouver, and the season finale at Laguna Seca Raceway. The series' previously scheduled Road America date, July 9-11, has been dropped, leaving the series with a 10-race slate. "The Speedvision World Challenge is poised to become the next major series in North American road racing," said Mitch Wright, Speedvision World Challenge General Manager. "While it's unfortunate we had to drop our Road America date, our schedule as a whole is the strongest ever. The 10th year of the Speedvision World Challenge promises the best racing, the most factory competition and the best entertainment for the series' growing number of fans." The Mid-Ohio date, June 4-6, is part of the BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series and USRRC Can-Am-headlined weekend and will be the final race of a season-opening three in-a-row stretch that begins at Mosport Park, May 21-23, followed by the Dodge Dealers' Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, May 27-31. The Road Atlanta date, Round Four, will be a part of the BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am-headlined weekend, July 23-25. The Vancouver event, Sept. 4-5, immediately follows the West Michigan Grand Prix in Grand Rapids, Mich. and is part of the FedEx CART Championship Molson Indy Vancouver weekend. The Speedvision World Challenge will wrap up its 10th season at Laguna Seca as part of the VISA Sports Car Championships weekend, October 8-10. One double-race weekend for each class, World GT and Touring, will be announced at a later date.. The Speedvision World Challenge is North America's premier production-based road racing series, featuring the world's most exciting regular-production sports and touring cars -- highly modified for race performance -- in a fender-to-fender, sprint race format.
