JDC MOTORSPORTS HAS DRIVERS TO BEAT HEADING TO NEW YORK
Miller, Kraut and Hulse will stand atop the standings entering Watkins Glen Star Mazda event
MINNEAPOLIS, MIN. (June 4, 2008) -- JDC MotorSports will continue its pursuit of back-to-back Star Mazda Championship titles this coming weekend (June 6-7) with the series' first visit to Watkins Glen International Raceway. A proven race winner already in 2008, JDC MotorSports will once again be well represented in Round Three, with Joel Miller, Ernesto Otero, Chuck Hulse and Gerry Kraut all scheduled to resume their driving duties.
Leading JDC MotorSports' four-car challenge into the historic road course in upstate New York will be Miller and his No. 20 MAZDASPEED/K&N Air Filters/Sparco/JDC MotorSports entry. The talented driver from California currently leads the championship fight, having won the season-opening race and finished on the podium in Round Two via an impressive drive.
Making it two-for-two in the series title chase, Hulse and Kraut travel to Watkins Glen tied atop the Masters class leaderboard. Hulse will pilot the No. 12 Silicon Salvage/JDC MotorSports, having scored the class win at Sebring. The California businessman was leading the way in Utah before a mechanical problem relegated him to a second place finish. Kraut did the opposite in his No. 55 Dougherty & Co./Dougherty Funding LLC/JDC MotorSports entry, finishing as the Masters runner-up in Florida before winning the most recent round at Miller Motorsports Park.
Rounding out the JDC effort in Round Three will be Brazilian rookie Otero. The No. 18 JDC MotorSports driver has shown tremendous pace in testing and in the sessions leading up to the races, but a string of bad luck has prevented the youngster from earning any top results, finishing 26th and 12th in the two opening rounds. Otero is focused on breaking out of this trend during his first trip to the Glen.
Racing in conjunction the Grand-Am Rolex Series, the JDC MotorSports foursome will conduct four test sessions in the two days prior to the event officially getting underway. Friday (June 6) will feature two 45-minute morning practice sessions, prior to the traditional 45-minute qualifying on the high-speed road course. Round Three of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear is scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m. local time on Saturday (June 7).
