Velocity Motorsports signs Karting Star Logan Gomez for the 2006 Star Mazda Championship

Prospect Hill, NC- Velocity Motorsports owner Ken Erb is pleased to announce that his team will campaign karting standout, Logan Gomez, in the 2006 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear. After winning the 2005 Masters Class Championship, the team was eager to sign a quick kart star for the 2006 season. Gomez, a seventeen year old Indiana native who has been karting since the age of nine, is now eager to begin his formula car racing career. His background includes WKA and SKUSA, where he won the 2003 SKUSA Great Lakes Region 80 Jr. Shifter Championship. In 2004 he won seven races between the 80cc and 125cc classes. Logan's 2005 season was very busy between WKA and SKUSA, where he finished third in the WKA Manufacturer's Cup and first in the SKUSA Super Nationals. Also in 2005 he was a semi- finalist in the Red Bull Drivers Search and competed in the Skip Barber series on the Regional and National level. Logan looks forward to testing again with the Velocity Motorsports team February 20-21 at the Carolina Motorsports Park with his teammate, John Pew. Velocity Motorsports Quotes:

Logan Gomez- "I am very excited to be a part of the Velocity Motorsports Team for 2006. I wanted to join this organization because they have what it takes to put a driver on the podium. I am ready to start testing and hopefully we will come out of the box hot! I look to make the podium this season also. I have been karting since I was nine and this will be my first full season in a car. Coming from Indiana, I have a dream of competing in the Indy 500 on day."

Keith Mellick, Crew Chief- "We are really pleased to have Logan join our team for 2006. His karting experience will help in producing some good results in his first year. Our goal is to support him as he makes the adjustment to the Star-Mazda race car."

Ken Erb, Team Owner- "One of the visions for the Velocity Motorsports Team when we joined the pro ranks was to compete for all three championships in the Star-Mazda Championship. Last year we won the Masters Series with John Pew and this year we plan to contend with Logan in the overall championship. Logan has an extensive karting background and understands what it takes to win. He prepares himself mentally as well as physically for a race. We look forward to having one of North America's Premiere karters on our team for 2006."
