JDC MotorSports wins Pole, finishes 3 in top-ten at Sebring
March 21, 2007 Lakeville, MN, - - JDC MotorSports topped the charts each practice session and claimed the pole position with Dane Cameron at the opening round of the 2007 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at Sebring International Raceway. Teammates Cameron, Nick Haye, Cole Morgan and Gerry Kraut worked hard trading setups to keep the JDC MotorSports squad solidly at the front of the field all week long.
Cameron started the race from pole and led the most laps en route to a 4th place finish in the rain soaked event. b^0x001cSebring was a great start to our assault on the 2007 Star Mazda Championship, we were the fastest car all week and showed that we are going to be one of cars to beat all year long.A pole and fourth place finishputsus in a good positionin the points to chase for the championship," said Cameron.
Nick Haye started the race from the 14th position and set the 3rd fastest race lap under very tricky conditions to earn himself a 9th place finish. "We were fast in the race. If we would have had more green laps I think we could have at least been in the top 5. I learned a lot about the car this weekend and I plan on taking that knowledge to Houston and having a strong result there," said Haye.
Cole Morgan started his race from the 11th position and quickly moved up to 6th position where he finished the rain shortened race. "I tried to set a safe pace and stay out of trouble during the race. Cars were spinning off left and right so I knew if I could stay on track we could get a good finish. My team was amazing all week, my car was great and we really have a great chemistry. My teammates are awesome and I really hope we can find some more sponsorship to run a full season," said Morgan.
JDC MotorSports team co-owner, Gerry Kraut, ended his race just past the start/finish line at the start after contact with spinning cars in his path. It was a frustrating way to start the season as Kraut was just getting comfortable during practice and qualifying, running some of his best laps ever at Sebring.
The team will continue testing at Miller Motorsports Park prior to the 2nd and 3rd races of the season at Houston and VIR.
