JDC MOTORSPORTS SEEKING WIN AND ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD IN GEORGIA
De Phillippi enters season-finale at Road Atlanta leading the rookie charge
BRASELTON, GA. (SEPTEMBER 27, 2010) - JDC MotorSports concludes its Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear campaign this coming Friday (October 1), with the Round 13 season-finale at Road Atlanta. With the goal of ending the season with a Rookie of the Year title and yet another winner's medal in the trophy case, the Minnesota-based squad will once again feature a highly talented driver's line-up of Rookie of the Year contender Connor De Phillippi, 2010 race winner Caio Lara, rookie Chris Miller and Masters Series race winner Gerry Kraut under the team awning.
With seven months of series competition and a successful recent test at Road Atlanta under the JDC driver's belts, confidence and expectations are high entering the Star Mazda season-finale in Georgia. With that in mind, the entire team believes they can better the podium finishes earned the past two years at Road Atlanta and score a second victory in 2010.
From day one, the goal for De Phillippi in his Star Mazda rookie campaign was to win championship titles. While the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development driver will ultimately come up short in the chase for the driver's crown, he can still end the season as the top first-year racer. Driving the No. 11 MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development/Justice Brothers/Sparco/Rock View Farms/Oakley/Power Balance/Reline Athletic/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports entry, the highly-rated Californian makes the trip to the high-speed road course with back-to-back podium finishes on his resume, and a shot at both the Rookie of the Year award and a top-three finish in the standings.
Lara completes his third full-season of Star Mazda competition in Georgia seeking to not only extend his top-10 run to a perfect 12 for 12 this season - having missed Round 11 due travel issues - but also make a second visit to victory lane. Returning to the cockpit of the No. 19 MLD/ATW/Molecule/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports car, the Brazilian is eighth in the championship fight - despite missing one race - with three podium finishes and one win (New Jersey Motorsports Park) on his 2010 resume.
When Miller gets behind the wheel of the No. 85 Miller Milling/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports car at Road Atlanta, the series rookie will be focused on bettering his best result of seventh thus far this season. The 2009 F2000 Championship Series champion from Minnesota enters the season-finale having most recently earned his third top-10 result of the season in Canada, and sitting fifth in the talented rookie standings.
Kraut like his younger teammates would like nothing better than to end the season with another trip to the post-race podium. The team co-owner from Minnesota has already gotten the chance to taste champagne four times this season, steering his No. 55 Dougherty and Co./Dougherty Funding LLC/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports car to four Masters Series victories in the eight races he's contested this season.
