JDC MOTORSPORTS TRAVELS TO HOME TRACK AS THE STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP
Miller and Kraut currently lead the Overall and Masters title fights
MINNEAPOLIS, MN. (August 6, 2008) -- Having raced at the beautiful Road America just last weekend via its F2000 program, JDC MotorSports will once again be at its home track this week for an August 8-9 event in Wisconsin, running Round Six of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear. Driving for the Minnesota-based race outfit in Elkhart Lake will be rookies Joel Miller and Ernesto Otero and Masters title contenders Chuck Hulse and Gerry Kraut.
Seeking its second consecutive Star Mazda Championship title, the JDC squad will trek to the renowned four-mile road course as both the overall championship and Masters Series leader. Joel Miller, who is contesting his rookie season in the highly-competitive series, has been a title contender from day one following a successful pre-season testing program. Piloting the No. 20 MAZDASPEED/K&N Air Filters/Sparco/Redline Oil/JDC MotorSports entry, Miller enters Round Six with one victory to his credit, a huge victory at Sebring International Raceway in March, and four podium finishes in five races.
"Road America is one of my favorite tracks in North America," stated Miller, who ran at the venue last year en route to the Skip Barber National championship. "Winning there would be a great way to start the month of August for me and the JDC MotorSports team in the championship hunt."
Making it two championship leaders at JDC, Hulse has proved to be just as effective behind the wheel of his No. 12 Silicon Salvage/Redline Oil/JDC MotorSports entry. The Californian has scored the Masters win in three of the five races to date and has yet to finish outside of the top-three. While not as dominant as his two stablemates, team co-owner Kraut is enjoying a highly successful season. Driving the No. 55 Dougherty & Co./Dougherty Funding LLC/Redline Oil/JDC MotorSports Pro Formula Mazda, he is currently second in the Masters Series title fight with one class win and here runner-up finishes.
"Road America is my favorite track," commented Kraut. "I am looking forward to a fun and fast weekend."
Entering the single-race affair at Road America, Otero will be seeking to build on his recent success behind the wheel of the No. 18 Brazilian Green Beef/Redline Oil/JDC MotorSports entry. The Brazilian has finished among the top-10 in three of the past five races, including season highs of seventh during the most recent doubleheader at Portland International Raceway.
Running in conjunction with the American Le Mans Series, Atlantic Championship, Formula BMW Americas and Skip Barber National at Road America, the JDC MotorSports foursome will begin its quest for further victories in the Star Mazda Championship on Thursday (August 7) via two promoter's test sessions and an official practice session. The second day of on-track action will feature a second practice session prior to the lone qualifying session at the end of the day. Round Six is scheduled to commence Saturday afternoon (August 8), with the cars launching from the standing start.
