MILWAUKEE MILE UP NEXT FOR JDC MOTORSPORTS IN STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP
Minnesota-based squad will attempt to win its first-ever oval race in Round Six of the highly competitive series
MINNEAPOLIS, MN. (June 18, 2009) -- JDC MotorSports, having won races on a variety of road courses over the past several years, will attempt to win its first-ever oval race on June 20th, when Round Six of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear takes place at the Milwaukee Mile. Driving for the current Team Championship leaders on the historic oval will be Joel Miller, Adam Christodoulou, Alex Ardoin, Caio Lara and Gustavo Linares.
For Miller, the first Star Mazda oval race since 2006 represents an opportunity to extend to six his run of top-five finishes, as well as the chance to bolster his current second place position in the championship standings. The No. 2 Fader Higher Productions/eSoles/Doug Mockett & Co./Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports driver steadily improved his times in series testing at the Wisconsin oval in late May, ending the two-day event among the top-10.
After mixed results during the recent New Jersey doubleheader, second in Round Four and 24th in Round Five, Christodoulou is ready to contest his first-ever oval race. While the former championship leader now third in the title fight, he struggled to find the right balance for his No. 11 Molecule/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports car in testing on the high-speed one-mile oval. He did, however, show that he has the skill necessary to go quick on an oval, posting the fastest time in Iowa Speedway testing.
Ardoin enters the upcoming two-day event as the hottest driver among the JDC contingent, thanks to a runner-up finish in Round Five in New Jersey. Seeking to build on this result and continue his charge up the championship charts, the No. 51 Oral & Facial Surgery Center/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports race pilot showed good speed in pre-event testing, twice cracking the top-five.
While Lara has yet to score a podium finish in series competition and has never raced on an oval, the Brazilian enters the weekend as one of the leading contenders for success on the high-speed one-mile track. Piloting the No. 19 MLD/ATW/Molecule/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports, he was among the quickest in pre-event testing, twice posting the third fastest time.
Linares, having contested his first series race in Round Three in Utah, returns to the cockpit of the No. 20 CanTV/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports car in Wisconsin. The Venezuelan rookie enters his first-ever oval race, having shown good speed in oval testing at Iowa Speedway in late May.
The JDC MotorSports quintet of drivers will have two afternoon practice sessions on Friday to work on finding the ideal setup, prior to single-car qualifying on Saturday afternoon. The green flag for the 100-lap Round Six is scheduled to wave at 2:30 p.m. local time on Saturday.
