JDC MOTORSPORTS SET TO CONTINUE STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING WAYS IN
NEW JERSEY DOUBLEHEADER
Current championship leaders hold four of the top-five spots in the driver standings
MINNEAPOLIS, MN. (June 10, 2009) -- Current championship leaders JDC MotorSports resumes its 2009 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear campaign over the weekend (June 13-14), with the first doubleheader of the season. As part of the Mazda Formula X event at New Jersey Motorsports Park, the Minnesota-based team will again feature one of the strongest driver line-ups in the paddock, with overall points leader Adam Christodoulou and Masters Series leader Michael Guasch being joined by Joel Miller, Alex Ardoin, Caio Lara, Gustavo Linares and team co-owner Gerry Kraut.
For Christodoulou, the start to his Star Mazda rookie campaign has been superb. In addition to being among the fastest drivers in every session thus far, the English race pilot has won two of three races, taking the early lead in the highly competitive championship fight. Returning to the cockpit of his No. 11 Molecule/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports car, Christodoulou is poised to continue his winning ways on the smooth and fast New Jersey Motorsports Park road course.
Contesting the Star Mazda Championship doubleheader in New Jersey for a second straight year, Miller is sure to be a contender for top honors throughout the weekend. The No. 2 Fader Higher Productions/eSoles/Doug Mockett & Co./Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports driver, who currently lies third in the championship standings, captured a pole position and finished on the podium in the 2008 event in New Jersey.
Ardoin is another JDC MotorSports driver having enjoyed previous success at NJMP. Currently fourth in the title chase, the Louisiana native finished second in race two of the 2008 doubleheader, and will be seeking to build on his three top-10 finishes to start this year's campaign in the No. 51 Oral & Facial Surgery Center/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports car.
Unlike many of his teammates, Lara enters the fourth event of the season with no fond memories of last year's event, having finished outside of the top-10 in both races. That being said, the Brazilian has enjoyed a strong start to the 2009 season behind the wheel of his No. 19 MLD/ATW/Molecule/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports entry, with two top-five results and fifth in the championship fight.
Linares, having contested his first series race in Round Three in Utah, returns to the cockpit of the No. 20 CanTV/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports car in New Jersey. The doubleheader will mark the first visit to the track by the Venezuelan rookie.
For Guasch, the NJMP doubleheader will be an opportunity to resume his winning ways in the Masters Series class. The No. 91 Molecule/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports driver, who holds a 10-point advantage in the series standings, won the opening two events, before finishing second in class at the most recent race in Utah.
Making it a JDC MotorSports one-two in the Masters Series title fight, Kraut makes his first visit to the Millville, N.J., race facility currently second in the championship standings. Piloting the No. 55 Dougherty & Co./Dougherty Funding LLC/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports entry, the Minnesota driver will be seeking to add his first 2009 race win to his extensive racing resume.
The on-track action for JDC MotorSports race pilots at New Jersey Motorsports Park commences on Thursday (June 11) with three promoters' test sessions. One day later, two practice sessions will be held prior to qualifying for race one of the doubleheader. Round Four of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear will take place at 2:00 p.m. local time on Saturday (June 13). The grid for Round Five will be determined via Sunday morning (June 14) qualifying, followed by the standing start for race two at 2:00 p.m.
