JDC MOTORSPORTS' STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP CHASE RESUMES AT AUTOBAHN
Minnesota-based squad features multiple drivers in contention for top honors in Illinois
MINNEAPOLIS, MN. (July 22, 2009) -- JDC MotorSports continues it quest for a second Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear title this coming weekend (July 25-26), with a pair of races at the Autobahn Country Club in Illinois. For Adam Christodoulou, Alex Ardoin, Caio Lara, Michael Guasch and Gerry Kraut, the doubleheader not only represents the opportunity to displays their talents behind the wheel at a Mazda Motorsports featured event, but also build on what has already been a race-winning season for JDC MotorSports.
Christodoulou, a series rookie and newcomer to racing in North America, has been a force to be reckoned with since the Star Mazda season began in mid-March. One of only two drivers to have visited victory lane more than once in 2009, winning at Sebring International Raceway and Miller Motorsports Park, the English driver of the No. 11 Molecule/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports enters the Autobahn doubleheader second in the title chase.
While the Brazilian Lara has yet to stand on the podium this season, he is one of the top title contenders. The No. 19 MLD/ATW/Molecule/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports race pilot travels to the Illinois road course third in the championship fight, thanks to top-10 finishes in every round to date.
Ardoin, a former series race winner, likewise is among those challenging for top honors as the Star Mazda Championship passes the halfway mark. The Louisiana native has piloted the No. 51 Oral & Facial Surgery Center/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports car into the top-three three times, earning sixth place in the current series standings.
While Guasch is not getting the attention of many of the drivers in the series, the JDC MotorSports newcomer is well on his way to a potential championship-winning season. The Californian, who drives the No. 91 Molecule/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports, already has three Masters Series victories on his 2009 racing resume, and leads the class by a comfortable margin.
Kraut, who is a team co-owner, is the other leading force in the Masters Series title fight. The No. 55 Dougherty & Co./Dougherty Funding LLC/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports race pilot has yet to finish outside of the Masters Series top-three this season, and currently lies second in the class championship fight.
The JDC MotorSports drivers take to the Autobahn Country Club road course for the first time on Thursday (July 23) via two 45-minute test sessions. One day later, the action officially gets underway with two 45-minute practice sessions. Saturday (July 25) will feature a morning qualifying session, followed by Round Eight in the afternoon and a second qualifying session in the early evening. Round Nine of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear will take place on Sunday (July 26) just after the lunch break.
Those not in attendance, can catch both Rounds Eight and Nine live via HDNet. Saturday's broadcast will commence at 2 p.m. ET, while Sunday's coverage will get underway at 1 p.m. ET.
