Krohn and Mundill complete pre-season testing
March 12th, 2009 Angleton, Texas -- Only eight days remain until the 2009 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear season kicks off at Sebring International Raceway in Florida. Since the conclusion of the winter test at Sebring in late January, Mundill and Norwegian driver Anders Krohn have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming event.
There is no doubt that the competition will be tough, as the drivers finishing second, third and fourth in last year's championship all have elected to come back for another shot at the title. That combined with a very strong crop of Rookie drivers should make for an exciting season opener. While other series are struggling to fill up the grids in the current economic climate, the Star Mazda Championship continues to grow with 30 cars already confirmed.
Mundill has had a very productive pre-season testing program, as team Co-owner Jeff Hill explained. "With several new components on the car for the 2009-season, we have had a steep yet rewarding learning curve. The Star Mazda organization has been a great help in the process, and we are now ready for the season to commence. We have been able to test at MSR Houston whenever we needed to, and having our shop at the track makes testing easy to arrange."
Anders Krohn, 21, is looking forward to his debut in the fiercely competitive series. "Testing has gone well, and I'm really happy about my working relationship with the team. The transition from F2000 to Star Mazda has been made easy with the help from Mundill. We should be quick at Sebring!" Ended Krohn.
Practice for the event starts on Monday March 16th. Qualifying is slotted for Thursday March 19th and Round One of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear follows on Friday March 20th.
