Krohn Scores first Podium of the Year in California
Monterey, California - May 22nd Anders Krohn and his team, Andersen Racing, enjoyed an excellent race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this past weekend. After Qualifying 2nd, they managed to bring the #47 Andersen Racing/Trallfa/NCA/Colosseum car across the finish line in the very same position, making it Krohn's first podium of the 2010 Star Mazda Championship season.
The Andersen Racing/Anders Krohn duo found themselves in the Top 3 in every test session, and in Qualifying the trend continued. After holding down Pole Position for quite some time, Anders' best time was bettered by a marginal 0.15 seconds right at the end, which meant the Houston-resident would be starting on the outside of row one for the 45-minute race.
Anders' got a decent jump off the line heading down the hill towards the tight turn two, and came out 3rd. He maintained this position until 15 of the 31 laps were completed, when the leader slowed down with a mechanical issue. Krohn, who is also referred to as "The Viking", retook 2nd place and would maintain this position until the chequered flag fell.
Krohn now moves up to 2nd place in the running for the Championship, 20 points behind leader Conor Daly and six points in front of third placed Mikael Grenier. Andersen Racing leads the Team Championship by quite some margin, and will do everything they can to extend this lead throughout the season.
This upcoming weekend, Round 4 of the Star Mazda Championship will be held at O'Reilly Raceway Park (ORP) in the Racing Capital of the World, Indianapolis. Anders will be running the night before the biggest one day Sporting event in the world, the Indianapolis 500.
"What a fantastic feeling it was to be back on the Podium! Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is one of my favorite tracks and I've really enjoyed coming here. Andersen Racing did an outstanding job through the whole weekend and all of our cars were very strong. We have to be happy with finishing 2nd, but our ambitions are to go one step higher. We'll be pushing like crazy for the win at ORP and certainly have the right team to do the job!" Said Krohn, who is currently spending some time at the ZAT Graphics.com HQ, while preparing for the 125-lap Oval race at ORP.
