London, England (July 10, 2007) -- A1 Team Great Britain race winner Oliver Jarvis jets back from his commitments in the 2007 All-Japan Formula Three Championship today having received an invitation to drive the Autosport-backed guest entry in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain at Donington Park this weekend, Saturday 14th -- Sunday 15th July.
Oliver's participation in the sixth round double-header, part of the support package to the British Touring Car Championship at the popular East Midlands circuit, marks his race debut behind the wheel of a 400bhp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
"This is the first time I'll have actually driven a Porsche let alone raced one," commented the 2005 McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year. "I'm both grateful and excited by the opportunity although I have realistic expectations for the weekend. The testing's limited and it's such a competitive field I'm just hoping to be able to continually improve throughout the event and if all goes well aim for a podium finish."
The 23-year-old from Cambridgeshire, who scored A1 Team Great Britain's first A1GP World Cup of Motorsport victory in Mexico City in March, heads back home currently sitting second overall in the All-Japan Formula Three Championship. Back in action last weekend Jarvis scored a fourth place finish at Suzuka in Round 9 before returning to the podium in Round 10 on Sunday with a second place finish. At the halfway stage of the 20-race series Jarvis holds seven podium finishes from 10 starts including victories at the Fuji Speedway and the Twin Ring Motegi.
Oliver's first race at Donington Park in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain takes place at 4:55pm on Saturday 14th July with his second outing coming the following day, Sunday 15th July at 4:50pm with another 23-lap race.
The 2007-08 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport starts with a return to Circuit Park Zandvoort, The Netherlands, Friday 28th -- Sunday 30th September 2007 -- www.a1gp.com
