LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!
Aberdeen's Glynn Geddie is aiming to get his 2010 season off to the best possible start as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB field head to Thruxton, Hampshire this weekend. The reigning Pro-Am 1 Champion, who stays put with Team Parker Racing this year, steps up to the Pro category and is set to be the biggest threat to Carrera Cup veterans Tim Harvey and Michael Caine.
Having completed the first official test firmly in contention with second overall, just 33-hundredths of a second behind Caine, and also topping the timesheets in unofficial pre-season tests, the Apex Tubulars-backed 19 year-old looks set to continue the form that saw him clinch overall podiums last season.
"We are definitely going all out to take pole and the wins this weekend", says a confident Geddie. "The main issue will be tyres though. Michelin have a new compound for this season and there will only be a two-lap window to get a hot lap in for qualifying. It's not going to be easy but I'm more than ready for the challenge and I have every confidence that the team will provide me with a car capable of what we are aiming to achieve. It should be good and I just can't wait to get the season under way."
The 2.36 mile Thruxton circuit, located in Andover, Hampshire, is dubbed the fastest circuit on the UK racing calendar. Although consisting of eleven turns, the former RAF World War II airfield holds only two braking points for the 420hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 997) cars and will see them reach speeds of 170mph plus on the rear section of the track, providing a unique challenge for all of the 27-car field, and a great spectacle for the spectators.
