RACER AL HARTHY CONFIRMS PRESTIGIOUS OMAN AIR SUPPORT FOR 2010
Middle Eastern motor racing star Ahmad Al Harthy is delighted to announce the key support of highly prestigious partner Oman Air for his 2010 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship campaign.
As part of the agreement, the Muscat based driver -- who achieved two podium finishes on his debut in the championship three weeks ago -- will act as an ambassador for Oman Air and will also receive continued support throughout 2010 from Oman's Ministry of Sports Affairs.
Breaking new ground throughout his motor racing career, the 28-year-old is the first Arab driver to compete in Porsche Carrera Cup GB and prior to this year's switch to sportscar racing he was the first Omani to compete in single-seater competition.
Firmly established as one of the Gulf's most successful young racing drivers, Ahmad is honoured to receive the vital support of Oman Air and the Ministry of Sports Affairs. He intends to deliver high levels of success both on and off track for his key supporters.
"It truly is an incredible privilege for me to be an ambassador for Oman Air and the Ministry of Sports Affairs -- their support is absolutely essential and I aim to achieve as much success as possible for my country in Porsche Carrera Cup GB this year", said Ahmad.
"I am so proud to be able to fly the flag for Oman in such a prestigious and competitive category. The UK is the true centre of world motorsport, so achieving good results in Porsche Carrera Cup GB is very important to the development of my racing career. I want to take this opportunity to thank Oman Air and the Ministry of Sports Affairs for their vital support."
Based at Muscat International Airport, Oman Air is the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman and is the flagship company of the country's civil aviation sector. Renowned for its excellence in service, outstanding hospitality and exceptional safety record, Oman Air is at the forefront of global aviation.
Philippe Georgiou, Oman Air's official spokesperson, commented: "We are delighted to support Ahmad with his motor racing programme in the UK and we're looking forward to sharing a great deal of success together. His role as an ambassador for Oman Air is a highly important one for our company as we seek to expand our operations internationally and jointly represent the pride of Oman. We wish Ahmad every success this season."
Ahmad is back in action this weekend, 24th/25th April, with rounds three and four of the 2010 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship at Rockingham in Northamptonshire, UK. For all the latest news regarding Oman's number one circuit racer, please visit www.ahmadalharthy.com
