EMANUELE NASPETTI IN THE PORSCHE CARRERA CUP ITALIA 2009
Following a successful career as a professional racing driver, which includes participation in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in 1992 and 1993, Emanuele Naspetti is returning to racing. The 41-year-old Italian will be at the wheel of a 911 GT3 Cup in the 2009 Porsche Carrera Cup Italia with team GDL Racing.
Dedicated to managing the family business, Naspetti has achieved notable success as an entrepreneur at the head of the Naspetti Group, an important venture in the Automotive & Transportation sector, as well as its related activities, with the brands Naspetti VI (Iveco), Delta Motors (Mercedes-Benz) and The Club amongst others.
"In recent years, I've been completely dedicated to running my business as an entrepreneur," said Emanuele Naspetti. "But my passion for racing never disappeared. I therefore decided to put my helmet and suit once again and return to racing, to find the adrenaline and excitement that only competition can provide.
"I've chosen the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia as I feel that this is a highly competitive category, well organised and with high-rated drivers taking part. The choice of Gianluca De Lorenzi was almost obvious; given the professionalism of its team already proven in 2006, with the second overall place in the Italian Super Touring Car Championship. My desire is to do my best as always, have fun and relax a few times."
Launched in 2007, the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia is recognized as the single-maker Series of most important commitment, professionalism and competitive level. The 911 GT3 Cup (997) race cars will be engaged in eight events in the same weekends hosting the Italian National Championships. Each event will consist of a two races, for a total of 16 during the season.
All races will be live broadcasted on Nuvolari Channel together with some minutes on the qualifying sessions.
