Early retirement for Nicolas Armindo

Disapointing week-end for Nicolas Armindo at the Norisring, 4th round of the German Porsche Carrera Cup. After tough qualifyings, the Frenchman was forced to retire after a contact, in the very first lap of the race...

Qualifyings : 9th

It was quite a big break for the German Porsche Carrera Cup drivers, since Oschersleben, at the end of may. Excepted for those that raced five races in Supercup (Montecarlo, Silverstone, Indy 1 & 2, Magny-Cours).

Unfortunately, Nicolas Armindo did not have the opportunity to race since the third round of the german championship. Despite this situation, Nicolas is able to set the fastest time at the first free practice session at the Norisring. Fourth at the end of the second free session, he will have bad qualifyings, and can not do better than the 9th best performance.

"That's alway the same. We are quite perfor- mant at the begining of the meeting, then we do not improve as much as the other drivers, and we fall down in the classification. The car is not bad at all, but we have some difficulties to find the right set-up, to adapt it to my driving style..."

Race : DNF

The few warm-up laps, before the pre-grid, are enough to make Armindo more confident. " I think we've found something really good for the race! "At the green lights, he took a good start, and catch two positions, then two others, at the second corner. But, unfortunately, a contact with Seyffarth pushed him into the wall, forcing the young frenchman to an early retirement, before the end of the very first lap of the race !

"It was quite hot. He already touched me at the corner before, and we had a contact at the acceleration for the start-finish line. That pushed me into the wall and broke my car. It's a shame, the car was better today, and I am even more satisfied after this lap in race, than after the qualifyings... I hope we quickly find a solu- tion for the next race, at the Nurburgring...
