CARRERA CUP TREATS CANTEEN TO UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE

Carrera Cup Australia, the primary support category to the V8 Supercar Championship Series, will combine with CanTeen next week to offer its members the chance of a lifetime.

The all-Porsche category, which is racing at Queensland Raceway from July 18-20 as part of Round Seven of the V8 Supercar Championship Series, will hold a test day at the track prior to the event which members of CanTeen, the Australian organisation for young people living with cancer, will attend.

While getting up close and personal to a racing-bred Porsche capable of nearly 300 km/hour is a thrill in itself, five CanTeen members will get the ultimate experience when they are treated to a flying lap of the track.

The teenagers will be strapped in next to a professional racing driver and sent on a breathtaking lap of the Queensland Raceway circuit -- the very same track their racing heroes will battle around at the end of the week.

Carrera Cup Australia CEO Theo Psaros said the category was thrilled it could offer CanTeen's members an experience they'll never forget.

"We're delighted we are able to offer CanTeen this opportunity and we hope it's not the only time we are able to join forces to brighten their day," he said.

"These kids have obviously been through a lot and we're sure they will have a fantastic experience."

About CanTeen
CanTeen is the Australian Organisation for Young People Living with Cancer. CanTeen's Members are young people (12-24 year-olds) living with cancer, including cancer patients, brothers or sisters of cancer patients and young people with a parent or primary carer with cancer.

CanTeen provides Members with a place where they can simply be young people - away from the adult dominated environment of cancer hospitals and treatment regimes.

Through its camps and programs, CanTeen encourages its Members to get involved, make friends and have fun! In the words of our Members, the most effective form of support is from other young people in a similar situation - who have "been there, done that".
