San Francisco, CA (February 18, 2002) - Telo Stewart, President of World Speed Motorsports, has announced the launch of a new branding effort for the 10 year-old race team.

"It was time to put a fresh image out front with our cars", Stewart said. "For nearly a decade, we have run up front in Toyota Atlantic, Star Mazda, and now the Fran Am series. While our team has always enjoyed a positive image, it was important to me as the new owner to bring the look of the team into a new era."

Stewart hired a professional branding firm to study the look of the World Speed organization and other teams running in all three series. Keeping the tradition of the old look in mind, the firm created an identity program that is both professional and versatile. The new mark features a world globe with a "draft" coming from the rear of an open-wheel race car. The versatility of the logo allows for the globe and draft to be used in place of the "O" in World Speed and depending on the application, with or without the silhouette of the car.

The team kept its historic black and yellow colors, but added a bright racing red and white to the mix. "Expect our cars to look hot on the track", said an excited Stewart. "We are in the process of painting our new cars and equipment and they look great!"

The full launch of the new branding effort is expected in April at the start of the Fran Am 1600 season.
