INDY CARS & CHAMP CARS -- as raced in the Indy 500TM, Indy Racing LeagueTM, and the CARTTM series. USSS is the only series which allows drivers and teams to face off in such a wide range of chassis / engine / tire combinations: Lola, March, and Reynard vs G-Force, Dallara, and others .. powered by normally-aspirated Oldsmobile Aurora and Chevrolet engines vs Buick, Cosworth, and other turbocharged racing engines .. on Hoosier vs American Racer tires. Both Indy cars and Champ cars are open-wheel, single-seaters, with open cockpit. Aerodynamic features include front and rear wings and underbody designed to produce ground effects, which create the suction power of a vacuum under the car. The monocoque construction includes protective driver cockpit, fuel cell and front suspension. The engine is a stressed or integral member of the chassis and the rear assembly includes gearbox and rear suspension members. The cars weigh up to 1650 pounds and use methanol fuel to produce up to 900 horsepower. They are capable of reaching speeds in excess of 230 mph.
NATIONAL AUTO SPORT ASSOCIATION
