Team Gelles qualified very respectably in Denver and continued to make great progress through the weekend. The 1.647 mile street course in Downtown Denver is a challenging one and strong thunderstorms overnight had made the morning practice wet, but Camirand was in Position #2 on the Race day warm-up. The weather cooperated at mid-day for the start and, as at Montreal, the entire Gelles TEAM of (3) drivers was soon running in the top (10).

By lap 2 Camirand was in a solid fourth position, following just behind Robert Bell and drawing in on Andrew Ranger in second place - each and every lap getting closer and closer. Unfortunately on-course contact upset the suspension settings and he began to lose his competitive edge, finally finishing 8th.

On the other hand, Antoine Bessette was contacted by another driver while moving up through the field and that driver flipped his car, driving Kuno into the tire wall. Kuno radioed to the TEAM to be prepared for his entry into the pits and had his complete nose replaced in record time by the crew of Gelles Racing in only (14) seconds to regain the field in last position. Kuno did an admirable job - fighting to the finish and actually posting a best lap of 1:14.932 which was within 0.6 seconds of the winner's best.

Antoine was just returning to the TEAM and was "polishing off the rust" from not racing since Round 5. He drove a commendably smooth and sensible race and put in one lap at within 0.5 seconds of the leader's pace.

Team owner Bob Gelles reported, "I am very pleased with the performance of the TEAM and the competitive times that they posted. Our only disappointment was physical contact for each of the (3) cars to hamper their chances at victory, but that is racing.
