Skip Barber Racing Racing School is not only the world's biggest and best racing driving school, it may also just be the world's biggest racing and testing organization.

With nearly 200 racecars in its fleet, Skip Barber Racing School, the Barber Dodge Pro Series and the Skip Barber Race Series face a logistical mountain nearly everyday. On any given week throughout the year, a portion of the 200 strong racecar fleet is on the road crisscrossing the United States. Pulling that fleet of racecars in more than 15 different transporters are tractor trailers provided by RUAN.

This year, the Barber Dodge Pro Series fleet of five transporters will log up to 25,000 miles each taking the Pro Series from its Sebring, Fla. base to 12 events across the U.S. and Canada. The Racing School and Race Series will likely equal that distance as well.

RUAN, based in Des Moines, Iowa, got it's start over 60 years ago when John Ruan bought a used truck to haul coal. After running a single trip in a day, he realized that if he could reduce the cycle time for delivery, he could haul more coal. So he did. Within a year, he had three trucks hauling 42 tons of coal a day.

Ten years later, he had the largest trucking business in central Iowa. By 1960, he had one of the largest contract carriage businesses in the country. Today, RUAN has evolved into a full-service transportation management system providing customers nationwide with a matrix of transportation services.
