Rookie Akihira Okamoto and veteran Chip Bryant put their undefeated records on the line this weekend as the Formula Dodge Eastern Regional Championship resumes at Lime Rock Park, Conn. The racers have won all six times out this year and will pair off in Group 2 on July 21-22. This is the second consecutive race weekend at the 1.53 mile, 7-turn track.

Sixty drivers will participate in rounds seven and eight of the series. Among them and worth watching is David Kaemmer, who established a new track record in the previous round at Lime Rock Park. Kaemmer turned in a fast lap of 0:58.342, eclipsing the old record set by former Eastern Series Champion Ryan Hunter-Reay by .029 seconds. Also driving is Andy Lally, a leading contender for Barber Dodge Pro Series Rookie of the Year honors, who is understandably familiar with the track and honing his already-sharp skills in Formula Dodge. He races a double bill this weekend. Craig Duerson, currently second in the Formula Dodge National Championship present by RACER, will try to best Lally and the rest in the Group 1 contest.

Chris Willcox and Roland Isra will continue to battle for Master’s points in the Eastern Region. Willcox has claimed maximum points in each race this season and holds a modest lead over Isra in the 40-plus age category. Both are firmly in the hunt for the Eastern Regional Championship. Willcox is fourth and Isra sixth in Championship points heading into the race weekend.
