Roger Yasukawa finished yesterday's practice session with the quickest time, intending to make a strong bid for the pole at the opening round of the Barber Dodge Pro Series at Sebring International Raceway today. With practice now over, his confidence is riding high having topped the final practice session this morning before the first qualifying session gets underway at 4:45 p.m. EST. Yasukawa took his Tokyo Ueno Clinic Dodge Reynard around Sebring's 3.7-mile track in 2:07.865 sec., averaging 104.172 mph.

Weather conditions will likely be a factor in today's first qualifying session as strong thunderstorms are forecasted for Central Florida later today.

The Barber-CART Scholarship drivers led by Ryan Hunter-Reay set the second through fourth quickest times. Hunter-Reay, 2000 Barber Dodge Pro Series Rookie of the Year, was only 0.004 seconds off of Yasukawa's pace as he set his lap time in at 2:07.869 sec. The Barber-CART Big Scholarship winners were up next with Brazilian Rafael Sperafico just ahead of American Jon Morley. Sperafico's best lap was recorded at 2:08.124 sec, while Morley's best stopped the clocks at 2:08.180 sec.

Matt Plumb of Unionville, Penn. was next up, rounding out the Top-5. His quickest lap was a 2:08.223 sec. The second half of the Top-10 began with Frenchman Nicolas Rondet ahead of Alex Sperafico, Marc Breuers, Peter Boss, and Juan Manuel Polar.
