SBRS: Make or Break at Moroso

The Skip Barber Formula Dodge Southern Series rolls into Moroso Motorsports Park this weekend, taking a respite from Sebring where the last few races have been held. Rafael Sperafico hopes that the change of venue will not end his winning streak. He is coming off three victories at Sebring, two in the last event held there.

Sebring has not only been kind to Sperafico. The top- three in points have all garnered victories there, with an eye toward keeping the momentum rolling at Moroso. Points leader Scott Bassinder holds a narrow three-point lead over Craig Duerson in second place with Scott Presti a further seven points behind.

With fourth-placed Matt Franc not taking part this weekend, drivers in the Top-10 will be looking to capitalize on his absence. Chris Baker (6th), Bud Risser and Chip Bryant (tied for 7th) can gain valuable points as they lie within 50 points of the lead.

Although a mile shorter than the full course at Sebring, Moroso presents a similar form of racing involving two long straights, enabling drafting. There are also three hard braking zones ideal for overtaking.

With the Southern Series reaching its zenith, this weekend at Moroso may be make or break for a lot of driver’s seasons.
