(Lime Rock, Conn.) October 13, 2001 - Landon Yee's provisional qualifying time of 0.57.886 sec. withstood the challenge of final qualifying this morning as the Californian fended off improved times from Dan Kraus, Scott Presti and A.J. Allmendinger, among others, to maintain pole for today's Round 9 action. Yee's prime grid spot puts him in a strong position to win his first Formula Dodge National Championship race of the season. Yee enters the weekend fourth in the championship tally behind leader Julio Campos, A.J. Allmendinger and Canadian Dan Di Leo.

Fastest this morning was Warwick, New York's Dan Kraus, who improved his time over yesterday by 0.4 sec. He'll start outside of Yee in P2. Consistently quick Scott Presti will start from third. He was second quickest in final qualifying. Di Leo will round out row 2, starting from fourth. Absent on the first two rows will be two of the championship contenders; Campos and Allmendinger. The pair will line up alongside each other in positions 5 and 6.

Yee was both elated and relieved that his time held up.

"As yesterday's session progressed, I was getting my time feedback and started to push harder and harder. I got a good draft on the last lap and it stood for pole position. I like this track, I haven't been here for a year but after a few laps, it felt familiar and I was comfortable."

The Californian went on, "Starting from pole, I expect a lot of myself. To come away with a win would help my cause in the championship and help my confidence for the balance of the season."

Third place starter Presti was equally encouraged. His best qualifying effort since pole at IRP, Presti believes the good can only get better.

"The session went well at the beginning and in the end it went even better. My car handled the best it's been all weekend. I'm going to make a few minor adjustments to the set-up since the temperatures are going to increase and the Busch guys are going out and putting a lot of rubber down. But I expect a good result."
