Round 3 of the Formula Dodge National Championship Series Presented by RACER

Bettendorf, IA. April 16, 2002- Craig Baltzer took his first top 10 of the season in the 3rd round of the Formula Dodge National Championship presented by RACER in the hot and dry sun of California Speedway. After qualifying 11th in the 22 car field, Baltzer managed to capitalize on some mistakes made by other drivers to finish 7th after the 23 lap race. Baltzer set a fast lap of 1:15.954, which was 6th fastest lap of the race. More importantly Baltzer scored 9 points to add to his previous 5 to go toward the Formula Dodge National Championship Crown.

Craig:
"Overall I am pleased with my result today. My plan going into this race was to be consistent, score some points but most of all finish. This track is a lot like a street course. It is very tight and there are very few passing opportunities. There were a few tense moments during the race with crashes in front of me but I kept my cool and managed to drive around them without losing any track position. Nevertheless I am very happy with 7th place. I only scored 5 points in Laguna Seca and to come out with 9 today should be a big improvement for me in the standings. A special thanks to Skip Barber, Dodge, Michelin, RACER Magazine, Lakefront Technologies, and Socal Decal Works for making this happen".
