Formula Dodge National Championship Series wraps up

The thirteenth and final race in the 2002 Formula Dodge National Championship was held this past weekend at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut. Frisselle completed a successful season, finishing 5th overall.

Frisselle came out strong in the beginning of the season, taking two poles, three podiums, and a win in the first four races. In the second half of the season, Frisselle was faced with some unfortunate circumstances even though he was able to set the fastest racing lap in a few races. He experienced some mechanical difficulties that lead to a few mechanical DNF's. In addition, Frisselle was mixed up in some first lap incidents that come from racing in such a competitive and tightly matched group.

While Frisselle was not able to take the championship, his fifth place finish in the series provides him with a position in the Barber Dodge Pro Series Shootout. The Shootout will provide Frisselle with a chance to win scholarship money for the Barber Dodge Pro Series in 2003. The Barber Dodge Pro Series is the next step in the CART development ladder and Frisselle's focus for the 2003 season.

Frisselle stated "Racing in the Formula Dodge National Championship Series has been a great experience for me. This is only my second year in racing, with no past karting experience, so I am very pleased with how far my development as a driver has come. Although at times I was incredibly disappointed with some of the unfortunate circumstances that I was presented with, I grew tremendously as a person and most especially as a racer. I am extremely excited to participate in the shootout and showcase just how far I have come. I look forward to next year, as I will move on to the Barber Dodge Pro Series, which is the next step in CART's ladder system. I plan to run full time in the series in my continued quest to drive a champ car in the Fed Ex Championship Series."
