For the third consecutive year, PA Motorsport has won the Kent County Formula Ford Championship. Their Australian driver, Brett Francis, sealed his second consecutive crown with another dominant drive in the final round of the series at Brands Hatch this afternoon, having won the penultimate round earlier in the day on a wet Indy Circuit.
It was a close fought affair with both Francis, in the FF1600 category, and PA Motorsport team-mate Dave Hardisty, driving in the Zetec class, competing for the Overall Title. A mere five points separated the two contenders leading into this weekends double-header, and with twenty-eight points up for grabs in each class both drivers needed to be sure of a good result to stay in contention.
In the end, Francis' winning consistency through-out the year was the deciding factor, as he took wins number ten and eleven to retain his FF1600 and Overall Championships. Hardisty fought off rival Neal Toft to secure his first Zetec Title.
The young Aussie was ecstatic to secure his second championship, and after spraying the pitlane crowd in champagne, paid tribute to his hard-working team and had a special mention for his sponsors: "What more can I say about them. The results speak for themselves! This year the PA Motorsport and Oasis combination has been just incredible. It's been a lot of hard work for the team and also Oasis to get where we are now, but naturally this is the moment that makes it all worthwhile. As a team I think we are stronger than ever, and Oasis has been a big part of moving on to the next level.
"I'd especially like to thank Steve Facer for his resolve and dedication to making this possible - if it wasn't for Steve I'd be spectating right now! Also to Tony Cheeseman for his support, Andy Mason for his continued efforts and enthusiasm, and Walkers - The Builders Merchants for helping us along the way.
"Peter Alexander, Sarah Nunn and the whole PA Motorsport crew have again shown an incredible ability to produce cars that can win consistently at any circuit in any conditions. The team of mechanics that are at each round simply bend over backwards to ensure things are spot-on, and every time we have the perfect set-up and faultless reliability.
"I'm looking forward to competing at the Castle Combe Carnival next weekend, but even more-so at the Formula Ford Festival in three weeks. With PA Motorsport and Oasis, I think we have a very good chance of surprising a number of people!"
