The Circuit of Catalunya (Spain) will held this week-end the seventh meeting of this high performance international Single Seater Series. The Frenchman Jean-Christophe Ravier joins the Epsilon by Graff team instead of Gregoire de Galzain, who is off for the rest of the Season.

Barcelona, 27th September 2001 Franck Montagny (Epsilon by Graff) is on his way to the final match with Tomas Scheckter (Vergani Racing). The Championship is to be decided between Barcelona and Valencia (28th October) where the Big Final will take place.

Montagny (23) is one of the favorites, but not the only one, as the technical equality in the Nissan engined Single Seaters could give many surprises. "It all depends on the weather" says Franck "the forecast says heavy rain is expected for Saturday and Sunday, and that is all right with me." The Frenchman, who is living in Barcelona since half a year, visited today the Francisco Godia Foundation (http://www.fundacionfgodia.org), where the president of RPM, Mr. Jaime Alguersuari, alongside the General Director of the Circuit of Catalunya, and Formula One driver Marc Gené wanted to homage the first Spanish Formula One driver, Francisco Godia (1954-1958). Godia, who died in 1991, was the owner of one of the most important private collection in Spain, specialized in Medieval Art, Ceramics and Modern Paintings.

"Since Paco Godia started racing in Formula One, just a few Spanish drivers stepped into Formula One", said Alguersuari, "the real meaning of the Open Telefónica was to give the Young Spanish drivers the chance to enter into Formula One, and look now, we have THREE drivers in Formula One, and none of them is currently backed for any sponsor. This situation was unbelieveable four years ago."

The races will take place at 11h40 and 13h40 (local time) and they will be Live retransmited in TVE (La 2). The latest news are the step of the young Fernando Navarrete (official driver for Renault Sport in the Clio Trophy) in the Repsol YPF Meycom Team. Also a new driver will make his 2001 debut in the Epsilon by Graff Team, Jean Chistophe Ravier, who visited three times the podium during last Season.
