28th September 2001- Heavy rain didn't show up this morning, but just some light intermitent showers. Anyway, most of the drivers were on wet tyres during the first of the two privated sessions (one hour long each). Twenty drivers and two susrprises: Ferrazano (SITEC) suffered a lession on one of his hands and will not be present in this Meeting while Nogues and Team Gtec will be also be absent, but due to another type of problems.
Under the rain, the Frenchman Franck Montagny was the single driver to lap below one minute forty, (1.39.773 ? 170.559 km/h), with nine drivers behind packed in the same second.The Adrian Campos Team confirmed their good performance, with eighteen year old Borja Garcia achievind the second best position (1.40.186), followed by his team mate, Rafa Sarandeses. Meanwhile, Tomas Scheckter (Vergani Racing) and Andrea Belicchi (SITEC Motorsport) didn't look very worried in their back positions.
Light sun in the second session, and times going down almost 2 seconds. Now Sheckter is leading the list of times after lapping 1.36. 524 (176.300 km/h). Angel Burgueño was the only driver who followed his infernal rythm. The Spaniard still the fastest driver in the GP Circuit with the Coloni Nissan (May 2001 . Collective Sessions . 1.35. 558).
Good performance in Team Fama Motorsport, where the demanding Manuel Giao achieved the fourth position in the scratch. Alho, another surprising newcomer, was 11th. Also Geoffrey Dellus has confirmed his progression as the youngest driver in Team Epsilon finished sixth.
The return of Fernando Navarrete, this time as a Repsol YPF driver, and Jean Christophe Ravier, in substitution of Gregoire de Galzain, was more than deceiving. But both drivers expect to have better luck in Qualifying, as they have prooved to be always in front.
GD Racing, one of the five teams that had confirm that they will participate in the new Super Nissan V6, had both drivers, Filiberti and Iglesias, place in the second part of the list of times, while Milka Duno, from Vergani, the single lady participating in this demanding Series, went up to the 17th position after improving the set-up of the car for the second privated session.
